David Prado – Vocals

David Prado is a dynamic jazz vocalist whose rich tone and expressive phrasing bring fresh life to the Great American Songbook while embracing contemporary influences. Known for his warm stage presence and lyrical sensitivity, David blends classic swing, Latin jazz undertones, and modern improvisational flair into performances that feel both timeless and personal.

Drawing inspiration from vocal greats such as Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, and Kurt Elling, David approaches each song as a storyteller—prioritising emotional connection, melodic integrity, and subtle rhythmic interplay with his band. Whether performing intimate ballads or up-tempo standards, he brings a refined musicality shaped by deep listening and a love of collaboration.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, David performs with leading local jazz musicians in clubs, private events, and festival settings. His repertoire spans swing standards, bossa novas, and reimagined contemporary material, delivered with understated confidence and stylistic authenticity.

With a sound that is both classic and unmistakably his own, David Ruiz Prado continues to establish himself as a compelling voice in the Australian jazz scene.

James Osbourne – Drums

I’ve been playing drums professionally since 1984, with jazz at my core and a love for everything from soul to stage musicals. Over the years I’ve been lucky to share the stage with some incredible musicians, and I treasure the friendships and connections built along the way. For me, it’s all about serving the music, supporting my bandmates, and making sure the audience feels the energy—whether it’s in a club, a theatre pit, or out on a festival stage.

Stuart Byrne – Saxophone

Stuart Byrne is an extremely versatile musician. He plays a large variety of woodwind instruments from piccolo to contrabass clarinet, in a broad range of styles from jazz saxophone to classical bassoon. He has recorded for others such as John Farnham and David Campbell; and for feature films, short films, commercials and video games.

Stuart has performed with the Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony orchestras, Orchestra Victoria, Victorian Opera, The Australian Contemporary Opera Company, in the bands for TV shows, and for dozens of professional musical theatre productions in Melbourne and Asia. He also had several years as a musician in the Royal Australian Air Force Band.

Tom Flenady

I’ve spent a lifetime celebrating live music the best way I know how: making it. Years on the Melbourne jazz scene have given me the opportunity to perform with some of Australia’s finest, on stages large and small, on television, and on the streets. Every single performance has been special.

As a musician, I’m devoted to jazz, and as a PhD researcher, I’m devoted to finding out more about what makes music performance such a powerful shared experience.
